Teofilo Kisanji University(TEKU)-Mbeya
INTRODUCTION
The Teofilo Kisanji University (TEKU) is a private higher learning institution owned by the Moravian Church in Tanzania under the Board of trustees as provided in University Charter and Trust Rules in accordance with the University Act No. 7, 2005 . It was established in 2006 and has a Certificate of full registration No. 017. It is located at Block T, Mwanjelwa in Mbeya City.
VISION STATEMENT.
The aim of the University is to be a centre of excellence for acquiring professional skills through training, research, consultancy, community services and worldwide activities.
MISSION STATEMENT.
The mission of the University is to provide opportunities for conducting training, research and consultancy in the areas of the
theology, education, social sciences, science subjects, Health and Allied sciences commercial and any other areas as the University finds useful to the community.

DIRECTORATE OF CONTINUING EDUCATION DOCE
The Directorate of Continuing Education (DOCE) at Teofilo Kisanji University (TEKU) is established under article 24, Part II, Charter of 2010. It is an educational hub through which the University provides educational programmes and services that take various forms which can either be formal, informal and non-formal depending upon the intended purpose. This involves Orientation Programmes, Pre-entry programmes Seminars and Conferences for in-service personnel.
OBJECTIVES
- To prepare students for academic advancement by attaining certificates and diplomas this would enable them to continue with higher education.
- To enable students to develop awareness of themselves and their environment and encourage them to play their social role at work, in the government of the country and in the community.
- To create a learning society so that students can participate effectively in the developmental process of the nation.
- To offer high quality, assessable and affordable knowledge and skills to members of the Tanzanian societies so as to improve different aspects of personal, occupational and social life.

DIRECTORATE OF CONTINUING EDUCATION - DOCE
NON-DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR 2018/2019 ACADEMIC YEAR
PROGRAMMES OFFERED
Currently, the Directorate of Continuing Education (DOCE) is running Certificate and Diploma Programmes.
CERTFICATE AND DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
No PROGRAM 1. Certificate in Education 2 Diploma in Secondary Education 3. Early Childhood Education 4. Law 5. Human Resource Management 6. Business Administration 7. Community Development 8. Information Technology 9. Accounting and Finance 10. Procurement and Supply Management 11. Journalism and Mass communication 12 Social Work 13 Library, Records and Information Science 14 Theology 15 Nursing and midwifery Certificate Programmes.
Minimum Requirements
For Basic Technician Certificate Course (NTA Level 4): (One Year)
- Four passes of Grade “D” or above in relevant subjects in Ordinary Certificate Excluding Religious Subjects.
- Candidates with Holder of National Vocational Training Awards level 3(NVA)
For Technician Certificate Course (NTA Level 5)
- Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) is open to holders of,
- Form VI with at least ONE Principal and ONE subsidiary pass in the Advance Certificate of Secondary Education OR
- NTA Level 4 in related programmes. OR
- Certificates from other Institutes recognized by Government are acceptable.
For Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6)
- Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) is open to holders of : NTA Level 5 in respective programmes.
EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
A: TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME
(i) Technician Certificate in Primary Education.
(ii) Technician Certificate in Early Childhood Education.
Minimum Entry Qualifications
Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education with division I-III or GPA not below 1.6 preference are those with passes of Mathematics, Biology, Kiswahili and English.
Duration: Two years.
B: DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
(i) Diploma in Education Science, Social Sciences and Languages.
(ii) Diploma in Education Business.
Minimum entry qualifications
Holder of Advanced Certificate of secondary Education with division I-III and TWO principal passes of the subjects taught in secondary schools from form I-IV.
Duration: Two years
NURSING PROGRAMMES
A:Technician Certificate in Nursing and Midwifery
Minimum entry qualifications
Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education with four (4) passes must be science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at grade D or above.
Duration: Two years.
B: Ordinary Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery
Minimum entry qualification
Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education with four (4) passes. THREE (3) passes must be science subjects: Biology and Chemistry at grade C and Physics at grade D or above.
Duration: Three years.
POSTGRADUATE
DIRECTORATE OF RESEARCH, CONSULTANCY, PUBLICATIONS, AND POSTGRADUATE STUDIES (DRCPPS)
The directorate is responsible for harnessing and co-ordinating research efforts of all researchers and academicians within the University and the community. It also forges intra and inter-institutional collaboration in research, solicitation of research funds, co-ordination of the the disemination of research findings, publication of scholarly journals and management of consultancy activities. It co-ordinates postigraduate programmes in terms of admissions, delivery of approved programmes and practical field studies.
PROGRAMMES OFFERED
- Postgraduate Diploma in Education
Mimimun Entry Qualification: A bachelor’s degree with a GPA of at least 2.0 ponts or postgraduate certificate or a “B” qualification at an Advanced Diploma level or its equivalent.
Duration: One year (two Semesters)- Postgraduate Diploma in Theology
Mimimun Entry Qualification: A bachelor’s degree other than Bachelor of Divinity, with a minimum of Lower Second Class from any recognised higher learning institution or a pass degree of Bachelor of Divinity.
Duration: One year (two Semesters)MODE OF APPLICATION

RESIDENCE
Students are offered accommodation in the University Hostel Residence on the application of fee prescribed by the University, which should be paid on yearly basis of the beginning of first semester
